PLATO Planning LLC. was founded By Ms. Arzu Sert on January, 1990 in Ankara, Turkey. The Company serves in subjects including city planning, urban design, modelling, plan digitalisation and technical counselling.

More than 30 years, PLATO has been completed a wide range of projects from urban design scale (1/100,1/200) to master plan level (1/50.000, 1/100,00) both national and international field. The Company serves in subjects including city and regional planning, urban design, modelling, plan digitalisation and technical counselling. The company also gives technical assistance to international partners.

ARZU SERT, PHD

FOUNDER

Mrs. Arzu Sert, founder of Plato, born in Rize-Turkey in 1965. Ms. Sert studied City and Regional Planning in the Middle East Technical University (METU). She had her master’s degree in 1996 and her PhD in 2018 in the same department. She also studied Cultural Heritage and Tourism at Anadolu University. She was the board member of Gaziantep Regional Cultural Preservation Council between the years 2014-2020. Arzu Sert is now studying Local Governments at Anadolu University. She has also been working as a part time instructor in the department of City and Regional Planning in Gazi University since 2010.

BEDRİHAN BAYKAN

CITY AND REGIONAL PLANNER

He was born in Hopa in 1986. He was graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, Department of City and Regional Planning in 2010. He is studying his master’s degree in İstanbul Technical University as an Transportation Engineering. Urban areas, preservation areas, heritage sites, industrial areas and bicyle roads are his specialities.

UMUTCAN KARABULUT

CITY AND REGIONAL PLANNER

Umutcan was born in Ankara in 2000. After completing primary, secondary and high school education in Ankara, he graduated from Dokuz Eylül University-İzmir, City and Regional Planning Department in 2023. He is currently works as an urban planner at Plato Planning LLC.

CANSU TANRIVERDİ

CITY AND REGIONAL PLANNER

Cansu was born in Samsun in 1998. She completed her primary, secondary and high school degrees in Samsun and then graduated from METU, City and Regional Planning Department with high honour degree in 2023. She won an Honorable Mension Award in the TUPOB City and Regional Planning Students Graduation Project Competition which arranged in the same year.

MEHMET GÜRKAN

CITY AND REGIONAL PLANNER

Born in Ankara in 1967. He took his bachelor's in ODTU. He worked at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism between the years 1989-2019 as the Conservation Planning Branch Manager, the Head of the Planning Department and the Head of the Boards Departments. He was a member of the Cultural Heritage Comittee of UNESCO Turkish National Commision. He also worked as the Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul 2010 Capital of Culture Agency. He is the founding chairman of the Gallipoli Historical Site Presidency of the Gallipoli Wars.

SENOL WHALEY, PHD

PROJECT MANAGER

Senol Whaley holds a dual Master's degree in Project Management and International Business from St. Mary's University of MN. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in City and Regional Planning. He has performed construction and logistics management functions with the US Army for 10 years as an engineer officer where he specialized in needs assessment, resource planning, operations synchronization and TQM.
